My brother and I were vacationing in NSB and used Yelp to guide us in our dinner decisions. Mi Mexico was close to our condo and we were craving some good Mexican food. We were pleased with this establishment. The chips were warm, and the salsa was good. We had two baskets. I ordered the chicken chimi and my brother had the Pollo Loco dinner. We were pleased with the portion sizes and taste of our food. We will visit Mi Mexico again when we vacation in NSB!

Decor seemed like a 10 year olds birthday party- streamers all over. Salsa could've been more spicy, seemed like a kind that you get out of a can, to be honest. I would say food was average. Nothing memorable but definitely not bad.

Food was tasteless. Service was very poor. Will not return. Server never followed up with us. Waited for 5 minutes for silverware while food was airing in front of us. Margarita was watered down. No glass for bottle of beer. Beef in enchiladas was disgusting. Horrible experience all the way around.

We haven't been here in years and won't be back. The place is dirty, the waiter wasn't friendly and the food wasn't as good as Taco Bell.

Wow... I had the fajita taco salad and the cheese sauce the put in it... Just pure amazing. And they give you taco chips with a homemade salsa. Seriously the best salsa I've ever tasted.

This place is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! Do not waste your time stopping in. The sign outside says the chef is back better than ever! Well if that's better than ever send him back from where he came. My husband and I enjoy going to non chain restaurants in NSB I drive past this place every day and thought let's try it for dinner. Well that will never happen again! The service was terrible, only one other table in the place and I waited 15 min for a beer. Moving on to the entree, I ordered the chili relleno omg it was a scoop of some type of paste then a square piece of a pepper 2x2 square and about a 1/2 lb of melted cheddar on top to disguise the fact this was not a proper relleno (apologies for spelling incorrect). I took one bite after I moved the cheese to a different plate. In one word GROSS!!! Do yourself a favor drive to Flagler Ave and eat at either of the 2 Mexican restaurants over there! I hope this place shuts down!!!

We tried to eat here tonight and left after waiting 10 minutes to get our order taken.

I love this place. Hit it up after every beach trip. Everytime I went to the beach with my boyfriend we would stop there. There aren't liquor drinks but the food is awesome. It is a fun little dive.

I love this place. I always order combo #25. It includes a taco, burrito, beans and rice. I get the ground beef burrito covered in a red sauce with white melted cheese. The taco has ground beef, lettuce and shredded white cheese. Chips are served warm with mild salsa. I always get the white cheese dip to start. I've never seen white cheese dip at any other restaurant. Service is fast. No hard liquor here. Tuesdays u get 5 tacos for $5. Remember to get a free mint on your way out.

Ordered the fajita chicken and steak quesadilla with drinks. It didn't come with guacamole which was disappointing, but other than that the food was fresh and tasty. Service was also good.

(1/19/2015) Had a hankering for something more than the fried seafood fests common in Florida. Stopped in at Mi Mexico; it's more Mexican than Clancy's (which is not Mexican at all, hulloh, can't get more Irish than the surname "Clancy") but unfortunately dumbed down for the masses. Got the lunch special Chimichanga with chunks of beef, sauteed peppers and onions, came with a side of guac, lettuce and tomato garnish, refried beans and seasoned rice; a steal at $5.50. Also had the combo #13, Chile Relleno, Beef Enchilada, Beef Burrito. All three had the same basic seasoned ground beef filling; the chile was smothered (life choked out of it) under a deluge of Velveeta; I don't know which was the enchilada and which the burrito, only one was larger and one was smaller, both covered in a very tasty, smokey, red chile sauce (best thing on the plate). This combo surprisingly came with no garnishes, or side dishes at all ($7.29). Place is clean, quick, and roomier than you think judging from the outside. Overall, good bargain, popular with the vacationing gringos. With the burgeoning Hispanic population in the area, I'm still holding out for a real Mexican place, hoping that's coming soon, I'll be there.

Great family owned restaurant with a very attentive staff. Good food served up hot and fresh. The chips and salsa were awesome. We definitely will returned.

One of our NSB favs! It's nothing fancy, but delish! My favorite is the steak soft tacos with onion, white cheese and cilantro.

Here is the good--it's fast. My husband ordered the chimichanga and I ordered a carnita taco and it wasn't bad. Here is the bad and why we will never go again- Margaritas are horrible. Don't order them. It tasted like they made it with ice cone syrup-- super sweet and not in a good way. The waiter did mention that they were wined based but I have had wine based before and they were good. These were awful. The guacamole looked like the one I see at Publix. Wasn't good. And when the waiter saw that we took two sips of our margaritas, he didn't offer to take it off our bill. He wasn't the nicest waiter either. I felt like we were really bothering him. Take my advice and go eat somewhere else.

Sorry to have this low score but they earned it. Took the family, 7 ordered off the menu . Steak tacos were overcooked tiny pieces of grisly beef, carnita tacos were just bla, they used to be awesome. Let alone it took over thirty five minutes to get our food once we placed the order, And two dishes five minutes longer. they were not busy. Sad face, what is this clanceys?

If you like very "soupy" burritos, with lots of super bland bell peppers and onions, and absolutely hate spicy food, you will love this place. Personally, though, I like crisp fresh spicy food, that stands without a pool of juice, so was not a fan.

Great food and great service. Went on taco Tuesday's. $5 for 5 hard shell beef tacos. 6 adults and 9 kids in our party and dinner came out fast and hot. Really liked their salsa and chips.

Great salsa, order some to go, tasty and very reasonably priced. My husband order a chicken chimichanga it was very good. I ordered a chili relleno pepper and taco. The taco was good but the pepper was not. Chili relleno by me is a pablano pepper, here it was a jalapeño pepper smothered in gross orange cheese. They have a pablano pepper which is what I would order next time.

We decided to have dinner here after a long day, looking for some good food and margaritas. The location is convenient if you're in one of the beach condo buildings on A1A, its about the closest restaurant to that location. The exterior is a bit tired and it has a small parking lot but we were able to find a spot without issue. Inside is an assortment of tables and booths with the whole interior having a reddish tone which was cozy. The good: Service was efficient if not overly fast. Our server checked on us a few times during the meal, I would have preferred maybe one or two more visits though. He was able to get our order correctly and it did not take very long to get the food. The steak taco and beef nachos got good reviews from our party. The chips and salsa were pretty good, the salsa had a nice flavor and there was a good amount of cilantro (though too many stems, lazy work from the kitchen staff). The prices are also very low so this is favorable to those on a tight budget. The bad: The margaritas were awful. They did not have an option for a pitcher (thank goodness as it turned out). We ordered two frozen margaritas and it was clear it was from a low quality mix. The flavor was just off and unappealing, and when they were first set down the lower half of the glass was completely liquid. The upper half was kind of a foamy ice crystal mess, and there wasn't a good taste of tequila at all. Very disappointing. The ground beef in the beef tacos we ordered had a decent flavor but was VERY greasy, i mean to the point where you're holding the taco and you can watch the grease drip out of the other side and pool on the plate. Its too bad to because the lettuce and cheese were fresh and the tortilla had a good texture. I couldn't finish the tacos though because of the greasiness. Conclusion: It wasn't the worse meal we've ever had and some areas were good, but because we really wanted a margarita we were let down by the quality. I would probably not visit this restaurant again.

  • Lyndsey C.

We didn't eat here so I am unsure about the food but our service was pretty terrible. The margaritas were ok but they are a bit sweet because they don't make tequila margaritas... They are wine based... Also you can't get a pitcher.... Odd for a Mexican joint. Chips and salsa were pretty average... Nothing special and wouldn't keep me coming back.

Another New Smyrna Beach restaurant that refuses service to customers 45 minutes prior to their posted closing time. Food was average, server was good, attitude of man at the door, less than desirable.

    (1)
  • Billy S.

Food was ok. Price is cheap but the quality is also cheap. I got the enchiladas a la carte and a quesadilla with a side of queso. The queso was ok and the quesadilla was ok but the service was very rushed and the waitress seemed like she didn't want us there to take up her social time with her co workers.

If you are in South New Smyrna Beach, craving Mexican, give them a try. You would almost drive by this converted Quick E Mart thinking it was closed but there seems to be a trickle of cars to support this place. The staff is friendly greeting us with warm chips and homemade salsa. I won't bore you with a long review but the food is good and there is extremely GOOD VALUE here. My girl and I ate like kings for under $20. If they had better interior and exterior décor they could charge $10 more per entrée'.

The food was amazing. The service was a little slow (especially around the bringing of the check) but the food was delicious, hot and enough. Be sure to leave room for the dessert churro.

3 words. Five for Five. Five tacos for $5 on Tuesdays... awesome. The service was friendly, fast and the food was authentic. Great chips and salsa. They don't serve hard liquor so know that if you're ordering a margarita it will be made with wine. Our server recommended against it. Stick with a Modelo. I'll be back next time I'm in NSB!

Standard mexican fare that you are used to, but they kinda step it up a notch. I got the enchiladas rancheras. It is 2 cheese enchiladas covered in slow cooked pork and rancheras sauce. Served with beans, rice and guacamole salad, it really is the perfect run of the mill mexican dish. It is not extremely authentic like I have had at some spots but it is pretty high notch mexican. It is really one of the only spots on the south end of New Symerna. I would go back anytime I am in the area and I suggest you do too.

Stopped here on a Saturday evening and a table was open. Chips and salsa was good with a kick to it. My mother had a small chicken soup and I had the fajita quesadilla. Both had excellent flavor and large portions for reasonable prices.

Ok listen I am as old as the picture looks but please read The service was fast friendly and fun. The chimichangas are pretty much burritos but with a higher price. My parents thought their food was good, they got the polo loco sand the fajita quesadilla . It is an ok restaurant but be sure to get the right thing. The chips were hot and fresh but I'm pretty sure they came from Sysco . The salsa tasted homemade and fresh and I liked it. For now I will stick with Tijuana flats

Best Mexican Food in Florida. Great price. Love it.

  • Joye E.

Stopped here for lunch and that was a mistake. The salsa tasted like a can of diced tomatoes. The chili relleno was a mini chili smothered in cheese whiz or velveta. Chicken fajitas very bland with an odd taste for Mexican.

Not sure what there is to complain about here. Service is friendly and prompt. Food is classic Mexican and you can tell it's homemade. Good, authentic Mexican fare isn't supposed to be over stated or fancy so don't get worked up over the aesthetics. This place has a comfortable feel and a good vibe. The cervecas are cold and the plates are seriously hot! Definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful food, great drinks, great service, great price, and all fresh. What more can you ask for in a restaurant? Bring the friends, family or co workers....

Reasonable American-style Mexican food (e.g. refried beans but not whole beans marks that fact). Service was a bit surly but not inefficient when I came here with two friends. I had the two chicken enchilada combo and was not disappointed in it. I'll visit again soon and see if they earn my 4th star, I'd give 3.5 if yelp allowed it.

Delish, authentic Mexican. We were tired from a day at Disney with our 8 yo. We were really, really casually dressed. We needed Pacifico and Modelo STAT. We were starving!! Mi Mexico was perfect. Food came out FAST (single tamale app the same time as entrees- tamale was, um, ridiculously good). We all ate too much and took a lot home (portions are big!). Enchiladas rellenos w/mole and tacos carnitos. Rode home groaning from being so full but saying how awesome food was. Solid local spot. Would absolutely recommend to friends in the area. 100% going back next time in town.

I really liked this place. The service was amazing! From the person that greeted us at the door to our waitress - everyone was so friendly! I had the fajita quesadilla which I loved and my fiancé had the enchiladas which he really liked. The portions are huge so make sure to come hungry. Also, the queso and salsa were amazing. If you're in the area def make to time to stop here.

Place was nice and not too busy for dinner on a Friday night. The staff was friendly and punctual. Chips and salsa were probably some of the best I have had! The menu was pretty similar to most Mexican American restaurants. The food came out quick and was fresh and tasty!

Cute authentic Mexican restaurant. Have to visit everytime we are here. Good food, arrives quickly. Only thing is most items have green peppers and onions in them. Hard for people with those allergies to find the options they like.

I've lived in AZ for over 45 years and have spent a lot of time on both sides of the border so I can say with complete confidence that this is the real deal. The salsa is one of the best I've had and virtually everything we've ordered so far has been as good and authentic as any of the local Mexican restaurants we frequent at home. Nothing canned. Very fresh. Service was great.

The first place I look forward to dining when I arrive in NSB. Yummy! Fresh guacamole, fresh salsa. Fajitas are the very best ever. I get them with cheese melted on top. Always cooked perfectly. I hear dessert is great, but I never make it to dessert. Portions are huge, and so delicious I can't stop enjoying. Only thing...I wish they had caldo del res

We randomly stopped here as we were leaving the seashore and I ordered quite a variety of food. Everything tasted great. I loved my chile relleno the best. I also saw a soup that looked amazing with avocado. The food was more authentic than your average Mexican restaurant. Thumbs up!

We arrived on the last Sunday of bike week - they had just been invaded by about 45 people who all hit the place at once. I watched everyone filing in, and thought there was no way that we'd be able to try it that night. When we got to the door, there was one booth for 2 left - talk about timing. The drink orders were taken quickly, given the huge rush and filled fast as well. We were given the complimentary chips and salsa - chips were thicker than most, and fresh. The salsa was probably the best house salsa I've seen - flavorful, and with a good degree of heat. While going over the menu, we ordered the cheese dip - very good flavor, and the kind of queso that does not immediately harden 5 minutes after it's delivered to the table. It did take a few minutes for service but given the circumstances, it was not an unnecessarily long wait. My wife ordered the beef chimi, and I had the enchiladas verdes. The chimi was made of cubed beef, marinated and tender with good flavor. The enchiladas were two cheese enchiladas covered with verde sauce, tomatoes, fried peppers and onions, and topped off with shredded pork. The pork was seasoned perfectly, and was absolutely delicious - some of the best that I have ever had. The verde sauce was very good, and the enchiladas that were underneath were very good as well. Both entrees came with beans, rice, and shredded lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. The portions were very good, and the quality was outstanding. I decided to try a dessert even though I did not need it. I ordered the banana chimichanga. When it came out, it was not what I expected - a fried flour tortilla filled with bananas, split lengthwise, then dressed with alternating scoops of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Then to top it off, it's drizzled with chocolate sauce and finished with cherries. Enough for 4 people - and priced less than $5.00. That is what amazed me throughout the entire meal. This is the best Mexican that I have found in the last 10 or 15 years, and the prices were surprisingly low for everything on the menu. I read the reviews of the place before we went, and some of the critical ones I just didn't see where they came from. This place does something that I have seen in other places. Two versions of chili relleno. In researching the dish I found that In its earliest incarnations, it was described as a green chile pepper stuffed with minced meat and coated with eggs and fried. Typically, I have seen this version done with bell pepper instead of poblano, and though some may like it, it's not for me. The other version is typically stuffed with melted cheese, such as queso Chihuahua or queso Oaxaca covered in an egg batter or simply corn masa flour and fried. I have found that places that serve both versions call this one Chili poblano to differentiate the two. While some criticized this place for bad relleno, if they read through the menu, they would find the complete descriptions for both dishes listed. To downgrade a place because of this is not fair - I am a chef, restaurant owner, and I know that cooks the world over take poetic license with dishes, and put their own twists on things - that's what makes cooking fun and interesting. I would not be so presumptuous to walk into some else's establishment and declare that they are wrong for any variation on a dish - especially if I had seen it a few times before, and only in the better Mexican places. I also cannot take seriously anyone that writes a bad review, and it's the only one that they have written in two or three years. , or the ones that trash a place because they had a "bad experience" with the service staff. Don't berate the food because of that, and don't give a negative because you have determined that the ventilation system is not up to your standards. I was there this evening, the place was packed, and it smelled just like the inside of a restaurant - what else would it smell like? I also lend little credence to anyone that trashes a place with no real explanations, and recommends a place down the street. That being said, this place has generous portions, good price points, and good food and service. The best Mexican that I have found in years. We will be back. Try it out - it's worth the drive-I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Have eaten here twice. Great food both times! Nothing fancy, Mexican music playing. food looks and tastes like an authentic Mexican Meal. First time I was here, service was great... extremely fast. Second time... not at great.. slow service. Then when food came, my companions order was wrong and was taken back to the kitchen. By the time the correct meal came out, I was finished. Still... food is very good!

I grew up in the area and I'm not speaking simply as a former resident. From Connecticut....to Volusia County....to DC and now in San Francisco there is NO place that compares to Mi Mexico! They have a great following there and you'll notice during dinner hours and all day Sunday. Yummy margaritas but it's their cheap food....with sauce so authentic you can't believe your getting quality Mexican cheaper than a meal at McDonald's. This is a family business and it's wonderful to come just because they love seeing locals come in. I promise you, you will not be disappointed with Mi Mexico. It's the best Mexican restaurant in New Smyrna Beach and (IMO....I know about Maria Bonita's) Volusia County.

Good food here. Wouldn't give it 4/5 stars like the others. Great portion size on fajitas but no cheese? A bit salty for my taste. Chips were decent and so was the pico de gallo. All in all cant go wrong here but liked Clancy's Cantina better.

Wow! Great Mexican food in New Smyrna Beach Some friends recommended this place, and boy do we appreciate it. We've been there several times. Don't be put off by the remodeled 7-11 look, the food is great. We went for lunch and everyone seemed to know everyone else, but we seemed to included in the camaraderie. Great food and good prices, what's not to like?

Best Mexican food in Volusia County- no contest (and we've tried them all). Green salsa enchiladas poblanas may be the best Mexican dish I've ever had- and it's consistently good (we've eaten here 20+ times now!). Ice cold bottled beer and excellent chips and salsa make every dining experience delicious. Service is hit or miss-- but never horrible.

YUM! I went here when I was on a habitat trip in March 2011. Our group was assigned a bunch of different restaurants to go to throughout the week while we were working there. This was by far the best restaurant we went to. And that's saying a lot because all of the restaurants in the area are great. I had some sort of spicy grouper (or maybe it was snapper). It was absolutely to die for! My friend and I shared it because the server told us the portion size of the meals were pretty big. It was perfect for two people. I couldn't get enough of it. Drinks were pretty cheap and the overall price range is about what you'd expect for a Mexican place. Really awesome. And they're in a great location. You could park there for lunch/dinner and literally walk to the beach across the street. They really have it good there! If you're in the New Smyrna area please check it out! Great food!

TOtally upset i wasn't there for Taco Tuesday. I LOVE me some tacos. We did make it to Mi Mexico for Fajita Thursday. For $8.99 I got a big sizzling skillet loaded with tons of chicken and veggies. It came with rice and beans too. They were alright, but the star of the meal was the chicken and veggies. My only complaint is that the massive plate of fajita filling only came with 3 tortillas. We asked for more tortillas and got charged $1. Very yummy, we will be back if we ever end up back in that part of Florida again.

if i could give this place ZERO STARS, i would......what an awful, crappy excuse for a mexican restaurant......not only is the food SO sub-par, the service is non existent. for their presentation of chile rellenos, i was served a raw green pepper coated with a velveeta type of sauce, NOTHING like what a true chile relleno is supposed to be......the spanish rice was dry and cold, everything on the special combination plate was gross. piles of greasy, ground beef crumbles tossed all over......and our server, no place to be found. he dropped off our beers, then our food, which showed up in seconds (like it was microwaved fast) and NEVER checked back again.....we had to ask another server to find our server in order to get the check. we paid the "manager" that sits in a little cubby hole, takes your money and plays games on his phone. the majority of the servers hang out in the corner near the kitchen. this is the first time i ever left no tip......and rightfully so. it was enough that i paid for the slop, i wasn't about to give a GRATUITY to somebody who didn't perform a service. the only server we saw even try to take care of customers was a younger man who had said that he was a new employee. i think the lot of them should take some tips from the new guy!!! THIS IS THE WORST EXCUSE FOR A RESTAURANT........SHAMEFUL!!!!!! i would NEVER, EVER go back, nor would i ever tell anybody to eat there....in fact, i'd warn anybody within earshot to go someplace else, even taco bell would have been better!

Great Salsa!, This place is great. Service was a tad slow, but we were in no rush. Lunch prices and lunch specials very reasonable. $6-8 range for a good lunch. Had the Taco, Stuffed chili, and Cheese enchilada special. Good retried beans, but barely any cheese on top. Small Mexican side-salad was small, but fresh. Overall, if you are just finishing up a camping trip, this is THE place to re-fuel.

I've been back here several times to try a few of their different dishes. The food has always been fresh, good and delivered quickly. Warm chips and a bowl of salsa are delivered by polite and attentive wait staff as soon as you are seated. The salsa, although fresh, is not spicy but that's okay because the tables have an assortment of hot sauces so you can ramp up the heat to your liking. Just add a domestic or imported beer to your appetizer or entree and it's all good! The overall experience at Mi Mexico is reminiscent of the small mom and pop Mexican restaurants I used to frequent in Southern California and Baja. I've tried a few of the other Mexican restaurants in the area and this is one of the best and most authentic so far.

Loveeeeee the chicken tacos. The cheese is what makes it. Taco salads are always good. Portion is never a let down. All you can eat chips and salsa is never a bad idea. I always get the queso dip to go with it. Enchiladas are super every time. Price is fair, and the same people are always working so its just a.comfortable place. I stop in just about every time I'm at the beach. They're worth the drive to beachside. Kids menu is cheap, and you don't get shorted. Lunch menu is a killer deal. Food is prepared quickly and tastefully. :)

Loved the chips and salsa. Fast, friendly service. Portions were generous and the food was good. The steak fajitas were especially yummy! Just steps away from the beach so we took a little after dinner walk. Made for a great night!

We visit NSB a lot and always eat here. It gets crowded sometimes, especially on the weekend, so get there early. The food is reasonably priced, plentiful, and really good. It it basic Mexican - tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. They have a 5 taco for $5 on Tuesday's, a deal that we take advantage of. The restaurant is clean, the staff is nice, and it is a great stop after a day at the beach.

The food is great, the staff is friendly and very fast service. We had the enchiladas, which were very tasty. My kids had giant burritos and my husband's chimichanga was cooked to perfection. Do not expect luxury in this restaurant, it actually looks like a gas station food mart converted into a restaurant. This is why I did not give them five stars. They could use improvement on atmosphere.

TACO TUESDAY!! Such a great place when you are having an amazing beach day. Salsa and guac are awesome. Super cheap too! Love being able to walk up from the beach and grab some tacos.

We come from a town with tons of Mexican restaurants. We could not have enjoyed the food more. We had 5 people in our party and each one of our choices of meal was the best we had ever had of that item. Food was amazing and wonderfully authentic. Awesome!

It was nice to have mexican food at the beach. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but don't let that stop you. We stopped for lunch and you are started out with fresh warm chips and salsa. Yummy! The four of us all tried something different and everyone was happy with their meal. The sweet tea was a little too sweet, but that's better than the other way around for me. I would definitely go there again.

Use to be the place to go to just about everyday no questions asked. The service and food has been depleting for years now. It's a real shame.

OK, I was being polite. I was asked to lunch with the ...hmm are you hungry? How about Mexican? We were right around the corner and in all honesty I'll try anything, I eat everything except maybe jelly fish and 'sure let's go'. Now don't get me wrong, I like Mexican food, I just wasn't in the mood but I liked this little place. They started it off right with a basket piled with warm tortilla chips and a saucy style salsa. A bit spicy but not too hot. The menu had a lot of options for lunch and I chose a staple, beef fajita. It was served with tasty re fried beans, perfectly cooked rice,( I think it was Basmati), guacamole, sour cream,a bit of greens and my choice of flour or corn tortilla. My husband had a chimichunga with chicken, very flavorful with a nice cumin smokiness and the same sides. We both really enjoyed our food and had so much left over that we enjoyed it again today. Our companion had the fajita salad and was still raving about it today. I read the previous review about the sweet tea and I must disagree. Mine was really sweet, either they are inconsistent or she was given the wrong drink. Hey the price is right, the service was friendly and the food is good. I say give it a go!

To start with, you'd be served warm tortilla chips and spicy salsa. Both of them better than what you'd usually get. Rice was perfectly cooked and refried beans was also okay. Sour cream tasted a bit plain, without any taste. However, burrito, enchilada, quesadilla, red sauce were delicious. Friendly, polite and warm service ! Definitely a try - at-least once.

Good traditional Mexican fare at value prices. The chips are fresh, the service is prompt and the food is very good. Would recommend to others and would go again.

Wow I have eaten at Mi Mexico for years, consistently good but I just finished their chicken soup and it was great! I never got it before just because it was 4.99$ for a small soup and 2$ for a filling chicken taco. Don't let the word small fool you! This was a huge portion of savory broth with ample shredded chicken breast , rice, tomatoes, and onions . Served with fresh chunks of avocado and lime on the side. It was cold today and I had a cold so I thought some Jewish ( or in this case Mexican) penicillin would help. It did the trick ! Crumble some tortilla chips in it if you want true "tortilla" soup , but u don't need them. Much better than the anemic tortilla soup served by big name chain restaurants. Sadly, my 2 chicken tacos went uneaten because I was so full sfter the soup, but there is always tomorrow!

NOT IMPRESSED. Nice wait staff but the prices are ridiculous for the quality of food you get. I had a steak burrito that cost $10.00. It was small. The steak was pretty much tendons and fat. The reason I'm writing this though is the cheese. The cheese on this burrito was like tasteless melted plastic. I cannot believe the other reviewers. I feel awful saying this because they were nice folks but I'll never go to this place again. Yuck.

I don't get all the hoopla about this place. I went here with a bunch of friends from Orlando and they were all cooing about how great the food was but in all seriousness there's room for improvement. The staff is very friendly and makes up for some of the shortcomings. I personally wouldnt go back unless we have a huge group at the beach there.

This was a great authentic Mexican restaurant! It was right around the corner from where we was staying and after a long day in the sun Mexican by the beach sounded great! The outside isn't much to look at, but don't let that deter you. Inside, the staff was friendly and the service was quick. We ordered the double fajitas (fajitas for two); which was a huge mound of steak and chicken (with beans, rice, and all the fixings) when served! The fajitas were very tasty, probably the best fajitas out we have had. We also ordered the fried ice cream, which was delicious! There was a good mix of people - groups, couples, families with kids. Overall, this was a great Mexican place and being so close to the beach it was very unique.

Hmmm I'll have to say that it wasn't bad but it also wasn't my fave mex experience either. Chips and salsa were good but the white cheese dip was a major disappointment- very very bland. Did I say it was bland? My carnitas taco was good as were the refried beans BUT the rice was completely crunchy and dried out. Sweet tea was just not so sweet. I will say that the service was very good and fast ( and they were PACKED). 1 extra star for my husband's carnitas. Now THOSE were the best we'd ever tasted. Ok- Mi Mexico- I think we'll give you one more try!

Very friendly, polite, busy! Warm chips and spicy fresh salsa... Everything I have tried has been good, enchiladas, tacos, carnitas, quesedilla. Good stuff.... I agree about the wine margaritas though, give them a miss. A bit more authentic than Clancy's or DJs... mmmm

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
